Cafe Quincy is a design focused coffee company that sells coffee, apparel, artwork and other accessory items. 65% of profits from each collection is donated to non-profits that work to aid those in need.
The first release under Cafe Quincy was the limited edition “Buttered Rum” Roast. Quality whole bean coffee roasted in Richmond, VA and housed in an airtight leather wrapped metal package.
All of the design and production was done by hand, using a laser engraving machine and a friend's screen printing studio. The release went well selling out within the first day, and raising money for a local charity RVA Light.
For the second release of products under Cafe Quincy, the goal was to play with the idea of alcohol packaging meeting Buttered Rum Cold Brew. The product was 750ml bottles of cold brew packaged in hand crafted wooden cases.
All the design and production was done by hand, using a laser engraving machine, label printing and some wood stain. The release went well selling out within the first day, and raising money for a local charity RVA Light.
The third release of products under Cafe Quincy, was focused on the the Washington, DC community. The Dark Honey Roast was a newsprint wrapped and strapped bag of quality whole bean coffee. The packaging gives the consumer the feeling of unwrapping a gift, from untying the strap to unfolding the paper it's truly an immersive packaging experience.
All of the apparel and packaging was screen-printed in house, and the products were received well. Black Honey and the apparel were sold out and restocked multiple times, raising money for the local charity Thrive, DC.
I've learned so much running Cafe Quincy, learning skills in packaging design, printing, prototyping, sourcing products, fulfillment, budgeting, web design, sales, and ultimately social outreach.
With Cafe Quincy, I’ve built out a brand that can act as a playground for design experimentation and get me involved with local communities.
